It’s always concert time at Bohm Organs and Keyboards America!
Well, not just for some of us, but all of us who play Bohm Sempra 3.0! As we all prepare for Tastenfestival in Herdecke, some thoughts come to mind.
I have always suggested that you should be a good musical host for friends, guests and neighbors. After all, if someone came in to your house and saw a beautiful new SE 40 or any Sempra instrument, what’s the first thing they will probably say?
Well, the first thing is most likely “WOW”. But, how about the second thing you’ll hear. I’ve been told that it’s usually always “would you play something-please”!
There is great benefit to preparing for a big concert – concentration, memorization and rehearsal…even making sure of volumes and balances are just right. But this is also true of preparing music for people who may visit you, if even only briefly, at home.
I recommend to always be prepared to play at least three of your favorite songs, ones which are ready to play for anyone, anytime. Arrangements that are easy and fun to play, not overly complicated. Arrangements that are really your favorites as well.
This is just part of being a good “musical host” at home. My list actually has the title “home organ” especially dedicated to just these enjoyable, familiar songs.
